Activities of The Finnish Game Developers Association (Suomen Pelinkehittäjät Ry)

The Finnish Game Developers Association (Pelinkehittäjät ry) serves as a cooperative body, promoter, and advocate for Finnish game companies. The association’s purpose is to support companies in the industry and strengthen the position of the Finnish game industry. This is achieved through the following activities:

  • Communication and Publishing – Sharing up-to-date information and increasing the visibility of the industry.
  • Influencing Decision-Making – Proposals, initiatives, and statements at the national level (in collaboration with Neogames Finland ry) and at the EU level (through EGDF).
  • Networking with International Stakeholders – Building connections with game industry associations and communities.
  • Events and Meetings – Regular events for sharing expertise and fostering collaboration.
  • Supporting Local Game Industry Events – Active participation in industry events.

Membership fee for The Finnish Game Developers Association

The membership fee is based on the number of employees at the end of your company’s previous fiscal year and is billed annually in the spring. The first membership fee is billed after membership approval.

Joining The Finnish Game Developers Association

Companies in the game industry whose primary activity is the development of digital games can apply for membership in Pelinkehittäjät ry. Companies whose main business is the development or provision of gambling games under gambling legislation are not accepted as members. However, subcontracting for gambling companies does not prevent membership.

Membership applications are processed and approved by the association’s board. A company representative designated by your company will represent you as a member.

The application must include the following information:

  1. Published games (game titles, platforms, and release dates).
  2. Number of employees (including salaried entrepreneurs).
  3. Turnover information – Has the company had turnover in the previous or current fiscal year?
  4. Investments – Has the company received external capital or investments?
  5. Team experience – Does the team have prior experience in game development?
